Popular television series Legion stars Dan Stevens in the role of David Haller, the show’s main protagonist. He is a mutant of the Omega class which is the most powerful of all existing classes of mutants. He is given the name Legion because of his multiple personalities and different powers that he possesses.
The series starts with David in a mental institution wearing a highly codified and secure outfit. After he escapes, he maintains a casual look but manages to make eye-catching style statements nevertheless with pieces of clothing like the Men’s Brown Legion David Haller Jacket. This is often paired with a cool t-shirt by David for a smart casual look.
“Everybody in here keeps saying that I’m sane. What if they’re wrong?”
If you are a fan of the show and want to dress like its charismatic protagonist, then we’ve got a style guide to help you do that.
David Haller wears an orange jacket having a yellow stripe in the opening episodes of Legion. This is the time when he is confined to the mental institution and the color of the stripe is utilized for the purpose of identifying a particular patient’s level of insanity. White is fine (just like his girlfriend), yellow is moderate, and red (just like Lenny) is the height of crazy.
You can check out the following orange jacket custom-prepared by designer Carol Case. It comes with white stripes but can be considered a close match to the Legion David Haller Dan Stevens Stylish Jacket.
David wears a pair of slim-fit navy blue pants with a thin yellow stripe, maintaining the same pattern as that followed by the orange jacket he wears.

The yellow stripe, however, is not there. But there is a visible lining on the side which you can follow to sew the yellow stripe into the pants.
These plain yellow socks are a perfect match to the ones David Haller wears on Legion.

THE SHOW’S WARDROBE IS A REFLECTION OF ITS IDENTITY
The clothes are one of the major components of the show and give it an exciting visual appeal. Stylish in a rather unique and idiosyncratic way, they oscillate between modern British and space-age to cool contemporary as well as something completely original at times. Just like every other aspect of the show, the idea behind the wardrobe choices is to generate the feeling of a puzzle that you are always on the verge of figuring out, but something just seems amiss.
A DEPARTURE FROM THE NORM
In a somewhat pleasant change from run-of-the-mill costume designs, the clothes on Legion are not typical superhero costumes. Showrunners had the following ideas with regard to the costumes.
- To give the characters a more “normal human” look.
- To move away from the typical concept of a superhero in a spandex outfit mostly because of the style as well as the story.
- According to Carol Case, the aim is to tell the story from inside the mind of a guy.
It isn’t often that doing something apart from the norm works well and makes people sit up and take notice. The production and costume design team of Legion manages to do that with aplomb.
